As a wildlife ecologist working in a rapidly polarizing world, I believe conservation must begin with listening. I draw from both ecological and social theories to document the impacts of wolf recovery in Washington State, and I am particularly focused on ensuring that the perspectives of rural communities are heard and incorporated into the science and management of controversial, large carnivores.
